Quarterly Travel Insights Webinar
The U.S. economy has kept its footing through mid-year despite spring fears of a slowdown. Travel, however, has been mixed. Hotels continue to wrestle with soft leisure, government cutbacks, corporate uncertainty, and soft international inbound, all of which is weighing on occupancy. Yet recent hotel company commentary seems to indicate opportunity for improvement into next year. TSA throughput is bouncing near flat, but recent airline commentary leans a bit more constructive. Cruise demand continues to soar while short term rental demand looks choppy.
Is hotel and airline hope improvement into next year misplaced or valid? Do recent trends in corporate and group bookings align with this hope? Can cruise continue to win share in a travel market that is fighting to eke out growth near historical levels?
